Economic Development
Economic development is critical to Kitselas’s meaningful participation in local and regional economies. Economic development serves as a pathway to self-sufficiency and self-determination, while creating opportunities for wealth creation, employment, and capacity building for Kitselas Members; fostering the growth and expansion of businesses; and attracting new businesses.
Kitselas Development Corporation (KDC) can and will ensure this is done sustainably and in a manner that respects cultural preservation. Proper economic development consideration is integral to land use planning and decision making, infrastructure building out and community development.
During the Implementation period, Kitselas will work closely with KDC and K5T to lead exploration of new economic development opportunities, especially on Treaty Settlement Lands.
